“Our story begins in 1984 thanks to the initiative and foresight of Luigi Cardaci who, driven by the desire to get involved, decides to create his own company, G.T.S. (Genova turbo Service). The passion for mechanics, in particular that related to the supercharging of internal combustion engines, is the flame that fuels Mr. Cardaci’s desire to stand out. The mission is to offer the customer a high-quality refitting service by making available his many years of experience in the world of turbo compressor overhaul.
The professionalism, honesty and creativity that characterize our founder were soon noticed by some important players in the naval sector and that is how in 1986 GTS joined La Meccanica Navale giving life to La Meccanica Turbo Diesel srl.
After almost 40 years of life we continue to carry out the various activities with the same philosophy of the first day, pursuing the goal of innovation, continuous improvement and above all customer satisfaction.
Since 2000, the management has undergone some radical changes desired by the owners that led us in 2004 to obtain the ISO 9001 Quality certification, an important milestone that has allowed us to consolidate the trust that stakeholders have always placed in us.
Innovation, the cornerstone of our mission, has led us to have a well-structured workshop today, equipped with latest-generation machinery and in step with the latest technologies. Furthermore, Industry 4.0 has given us the opportunity to create a new, more flexible and efficient production and business management model based on the interconnection between the various physical and digital systems and on the acquisition of data in real time.
In 2019, we began a process of creating our own new ERP management system that today allows us to plan, analyze and keep under control all the various phases of production. The latter also allows us to be constantly updated on the progression of activities and to have access, in real time, to all the data of the production system, consequently improving business efficiency.
The staff currently consists of a group of about 35 people, 25 of whom are involved in production. We have a 1,800m2 workshop (of which 1,600m2 covered and 200m2 uncovered), a 600m2 warehouse and finally 400m2 dedicated to the administrative offices and the Management. Faithful to our roots, we have always maintained our headquarters in Calata Giuseppe Gadda, in the Naval Repairs area, in the heart of the Old Port of Genoa.
In 2021, the company was transformed into a joint stock company, retaining the share capital and consequently modifying the company statute.
Unfortunately, in 2024 our founder, Luigi Cardaci, left us, but the generational transition was extremely smooth as it had been well prepared by the management over the previous years.
Also in 2024, ahead of current legislation, we embarked on a path of ESG Sustainability that allowed us to obtain a sustainability rating certification. A document that allows us to communicate our commitment in this area to our stakeholders.
